French White Wines for Winter
First up, we have a beautiful Sancerre from a small village in Loire. Brothers Pascal and Nicolas Reverdy started this winery with no capital and built themselves up to be well regarded and known for producing some of the finest Sancerre Rouges. The wine we will be tasting is the delicious Pascal et Nicolas Reverdy Les Anges Lots Vieilles Vignes. This wine is made up of 75 year old Sauvignon Blanc vines planted in almost pure Terres Blanches – fossilized limestone. The wine is unfiltered, racy and perfect for a hearty mushroom risotto dinner.
Next, we have a Burgundian Crémant you want to pair with fried chicken this weekend. Domaine Martine & Pierre-Marie Chermette Crémant de Bourgogne Brut is made up of 100% Chardonnay using the traditional Champagne method. This wine has light bursting bubbles with a lively and elegant palate of citrus and refreshing acidity. That bursting freshness and zesty flavor brings out the best on fried chicken from your favorite take out place.
Finally, we have a great value, crowd pleasing white wine blend. Domaine des Cassagnoles Cuvée Gros Manseng Reserve is made up of Colombard, Ugni Blanc and Gros Manseng from Southwest France. If you like Sauvignon Blanc this will be your new go to house wine. This aromatic, crisp and herbal wine is great for weeknight sipping.
