Joseph Carr
Merlot 2012
Joseph Carr produces his Napa Valley Merlot in collaboration with Aaron Pott, the former head winemaker at both Chateau Troplong-Mondot and Chateau La Tour Figeac. Pott’s pedigree shows in this wine, which is produced in a bold yet elegant style reminiscent of right bank Bordeaux. Carr and Pott source the fruit from the Carneros AVA and ferment in stainless steel, then barrel-age in French oak. The resulting wine shows cherry, chocolate, and roast meat on the nose and palate, with a rich texture and lengthy finish.

Meinklang
Frizzante Rose 2014
Meinklang, situated on the border between Austria and Hungary, is one of the world’s fiercest adherents to biodynamic practices. In fact, the Michlits family, who manage the estate and live on the property, keep a herd of cattle as part of their holistic farming philosophy, providing inspiration for the label. Meinklang’s Frizzante Rose is a petillant-naturel, or pet-nat, a style of sparkling wine that has gained traction over the last few years – this wine is one of the most prominent and popular examples on the market. The wine’s soft carbonation is produced by bottling before fermentation has finished, and its low alcohol and fruity nose make it an exceptional summer sipper, with enough body and earthiness to stand up to serious food.
