2010 Leoville Las Cases Prices Released

Top Saint Julien estate, Leoville Las Cases, released its 2010 prices today. This 97-hectare property borders First Growth Latour in Pauillac and is the largest of the three Leoville estates.

The 2010 weather conditions were cooler and drier than 2009 at the start of the growth cycle. July experienced more sun and higher temperatures, while August and September offered cooler, dry conditions during ripening.

The resulting wine received excellent scores from critics: Robert Parker (96), Jancis Robinson (17.5), Decanter (18.5), James Suckling (97-98) and Wine Spectator (94-97).
The 2010 Leoville Las Cases is a vintage of impressive potential. Dominantly Cabernet Sauvignon (82% of the assemblage), the wine possesses a saturated, very black plum-purple color and is very much masked and reserved. There is an impression of profound richness, and the composition of the wine is marvelous, noble, broad and beautifully calibrated with very fine tannins and acidity hidden in the flesh and fruit. This is a very high class, long-term wine, based on the barrel sample, and one which collectors of this chateau will not want to miss. – Roger Bohmrich, Master of Wine
