Abbazia di Novacella

Kerner 2015

The Abbazia di Novacella is one of the oldest wineries in the world with over 850 years of winemaking experience! Founded in 1142 they produce a large range of white wines in the Alto Adige region near Valle Isarco. Because of the region’s proximity to the Austrian border, Valle Isarco is also known as Eisacktal or Eisacktaler in German. This Abbazia di Novacella is made from 100% Kerner from gravelly marine soils planted at 600-750 meters in elevation. Aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks, the Abbazia di Novacella Kerner displays a straw yellow color, with a fragrant floral, peach and apple fruit on the nose. Hints of mango and tropical fruits on the palate, enjoy this full bodied white with cold summer pasta salads or roasted chicken.

Humbert Freres Bourgogne 2014

Humbert Freres

Bourgogne 2014

Another family owned vineyard, Humbert Freres is managed by two brothers Frederic and Emmanuel Humbert in the heart of Gevrey Chambertin. Very well known in France but not in the US, this small producer is one to look after, as quality continues to rise, over delivering in the red Burgundy category! This Bourgogne Rouge is a delicate pinot noir, medium body and bright red fruit flavors wrapped in the symbolic Gevrey Chambertin tannin texture indicating its age worthiness. I great light to medium bodied reds for a sun filled day afternoon picnic!
