Chateau Profile: Phelan Segur (Saint Estephe)

In the post on 2010 Saint-Estephe value wines, we mentioned the Cru Bourgeois property, Phelan Segur, that borders classified growth chateaux Montrose and Calon-Ségur.

In fact, just last year, Phelan Segur sold 22-hectares of its vineyard to neighbor Montrose, which is a testament to its exceptional quality.

Originally founded by Irishman Bernard Phelan in the 19th century, the estate was renamed Phelan Segur by his son in the early 20th century. Since 1985, it has been run by the Gardinier family.

Millesima recently talked with the winemaking team at Phelan Segur. Part 1 of our coverage is above and part 2 is just below.

Phelan Segur wines and wine futures are available for purchase at Millesima USA.
