Following in the footsteps of official First Growths, Chateaux Margaux and Mouton Rothschild, and honorary First Growth, La Mission Haut Brion, Chateau Lafite Rothschild announced its 2010 futures prices.
Buyers had been expecting higher prices, so cases have been selling fast today, especially for the chateau’s second label, Carruades de Lafite. The 2010 Carruades de Lafite is currently about $100 lower than the 2009, while the 2010 Chateau Lafite-Rothschild weighs in at about 75% of the current 2009 price. (Prices have been rising quickly as tranches sell out fast, so if you want this wine, act now. Lafite has been, by far, our biggest seller today.)
Lafite has been considered a fantastic investment in recent years. Lafite 1982 is worth 8 times its weight in silver and bottles of Lafite have appreciated much more quickly than its other First Growth peers.
