While Chateau Lafite-Rothschild (recently valued at almost €4 billion by Liv-Ex) may have stayed mum today rather than release their highly-anticipated prices, the Rothschild family did make a surprising release late last Friday (a day after VinExpo ended) for their Pomerol chateau, L’Evangile.
With vineyards bordering Petrus to the north and Cheval Blanc to the south, L’Evangile’s prime location is ideal for growing merlot and cabernet franc. Critic scores for the 2010 vintage have been extremely positive: Robert Parker (96-98), Jancis Robinson (18), Decanter (18.5), James Suckling (94-95) and Wine Spectator (94-97).
You can now buy 2010 Chateau L’Evangile futures wines through Millesima USA. However, savvy bargain shoppers may want to pick up 3 bottles of 2008 L’Evangile (which is ready to ship now) for the price of 1 bottle of 2010.
